My journey to becoming a writer started early.
In grade school, I used to spend hours in my room reading and writing stories and poems. I even wrote a few plays. I still remember the day I took one of my plays to school and tried to talk my friends into putting on a show during recess.
But by high school, I decided that writing wasn't practical, and pursued another career path. Big mistake. But several years later, while sitting in my desk at work, I concluded that I had buried the talents that God gave me to make a buck.
So, I made a change.
I started my new career as a reporter for the North Jefferson News in Gardendale, Alabama. The next year, I landed a job at the Birmingham Post-Herald where I was general assignment and education reporter. Later, I became a public relations specialist at a major university, and wrote press releases, backgrounders, tipsheets, web content, and magazine articles.
